Omnidose AI Label Scanning Consent

Omnidose offers optional label scanning using Google Gemini. You can use all manual tracking features without enabling AI scanning.
AI scanning is available only to people who are at least 18 years old.
Your choice
AI scanning is:
· Off unless you affirmatively consent.
· Started only when you choose label images and ask Omnidose to analyze them.
· Not required for setup or manual tracking.
· Able to be disabled later in Settings.
Granting photo or camera permission does not by itself send an image to Gemini.
What is sent to Google
When you deliberately start an AI scan, Omnidose may send directly from your device to the Google Gemini API:
· The label images you selected.
· Text and other information visible in those images.
· Processing instructions that ask Gemini to identify label details.
· The Gemini API key you supplied for authentication.
· Technical request information received by Google while operating the service.
The purpose is to suggest details such as a substance name, ingredients, dosage, and unit for your review. Andrew Allsbury / Neuralis does not receive the selected images, API key, or Gemini response through an Omnidose server.
Google's handling of submissions
Google, not Omnidose, operates Gemini. Google's handling can depend on your Google account or project, billing tier, region, settings, and the terms in effect at the time of the scan.
Under Google's current published terms, content sent through some unpaid Gemini services may be used to improve Google products and may be read or annotated by human reviewers. Paid-service handling differs, but Google may still process or temporarily log requests for service operation, safety, security, and legal reasons.

Do not use AI scanning if you do not accept Google's handling or if Gemini is unavailable or not permitted for your account, project, region, or intended use.
Protect sensitive information
Before selecting a label image, crop or cover information that identifies you. Do not submit an image showing sensitive, confidential, or personal information such as:
· Your name, address, phone number, or email.
· A date of birth, patient number, medical record number, or prescription number.
· A pharmacy barcode, QR code, or account identifier tied to you.
· Insurance, payment, or government-identification information.
· Another person's information.
If the label cannot be scanned without sensitive information, enter it manually instead.
AI can be wrong
Gemini may misread a label, omit information, confuse units, or produce an incorrect suggestion. An AI result is not medical advice, diagnosis, dosage guidance, or a substitute for a pharmacist or other qualified professional.
Review every field against the original label before saving it. Do not change a medication or supplement based only on an AI result.
API key and possible charges
AI scanning uses the Gemini API key you provide. The local copy is stored using platform secure storage and is not included in an Omnidose JSON backup.
You are responsible for your Google account or project, key restrictions, quotas, regional eligibility, and any Google charges. Never email your API key or include it in a support message.
Withdrawing consent
You can disable AI label scanning in Omnidose Settings. Disabling consent stops new AI scans from being sent by Omnidose. You can also remove the locally stored Gemini API key.
Withdrawing consent does not:
· Delete substance details that you previously chose to save locally.
· Delete data already processed or retained by Google.
· Revoke the key or delete the Google project that issued it.
Use Google AI Studio or Google Cloud controls to revoke a key or manage data held by Google. Use Omnidose's record controls or Delete All Local Data to remove locally saved results.
Consent statement
By enabling AI label scanning, you confirm that:
· You are at least 18 years old.
· You understand that selected label images, visible information, and processing instructions may be sent to Google Gemini.
· You have reviewed or had the opportunity to review Google's current terms and privacy policy.
· You will avoid submitting sensitive or identifying information.
· You understand that AI output may be inaccurate and must be verified.
· You can continue using Omnidose manually without consent and can withdraw consent for future scans.
